Bath and Body Recipes

Natural Moisturizer
Shea Butter is the best all around moisturizer. It's great for all skin types and can be used as a Facial Moisturizer, Body Butter, Lip Moisturizer, Hair Conditioner and Hand Cream. Use Sparingly as a little goes a long way. It does not feel greasy unless used in excess.

Natural Hair Care and Hair Styling

Natural Flax Seed Hair Gel Recipe
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp Whole Flax Seeds
1 cup waterPure Aloe Vera Gel, if desired
Few drops of Essential Oil for scent.

Instructions: Bring water to a boil. Stir the seeds into the water and reduce heat. Simmer for about 10 minutes*, stirring constantly, until a gel-like lotion is formed. Strain through a fine strainer or cheesecloth into a small bottle. Add essential oils and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. If desired, you can add some pure aloe vera gel for its moisturizing properties. Fill the bottle with flax seed gel until bottle is about 3/4 full, then fill to the top with pure Aloe Vera gel. Gel will not flake or make the hair hard or crunchy. Safe to use everyday..................... *Note: This seemed too thick to strain easily. I found it easier to make this recipe using double the water called for then strain after 10 minutes and return to the pan and simmer till thicker. Let cool then tranfer to a bottle and add the aloe and essential oil.

Natural Hair Rinse Recipe
Ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar (about 1/3 vinegar to water ratio)
Water
Few Drops of Essential Oil

Fill a quart size plastic squirt bottle with a vinegar water solution and add a few drops of essential oil as desired. Keep it in the shower and shake well before using then rinse thoroughly. This is a good recipe if you use all natural soap to wash your hair as it will remove any residue the soap leaves behind.

Natural Hair Conditioning
For a conditioning treatment for hair, melt a generous amount of unscented or scented Shea Butter in the palm of hands and work through hair. Leave on 20 minutes to 2 hours. Shampoo as usual. For an after shampoo conditioner melt a very small amount of Shea Butter in palms and work through hair or only on dry ends being careful not to over do it....less is better....you can always add more if needed.

Fill with water and shake. This is a good surface cleaner also.

1/4 Cup Washing Soda (not the same as baking soda. Found in the Laundry aisle of some grocery stores)
1/4 Cup Borax
